2019 was a hot dry summer. The POUNAMU vineyard saw three months without any rain. This provided ideal ripening conditions long into Autumn, allowing he bunches to achieve optimum balance prior to harvest. Harvest dates were earlier than normal.

Aroma: Characters likened to stone-fruits, honey-dew melon, limes, snow-pea & river stone.
Palate: A softness on the palate that makes the wine highly drinkable and appealing to a broad range of palate types. Pure and enticing. |
The fruit was de-stemmed and gently pressed in a pneumatic press. Juice was cold settled then racked and inoculated with cultured yeast. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks so to showcase the natural aromatics of the variety.
The fruit was machine harvested in several parcels, only ever in the cool of the night. |
Single Vineyard, Waihopai Valley, Marlborough.
Sub-region: ‘Southern Valleys’. Grown on two terraces and three different areas within the single vineyard. The lower terraces contain stony silt loam soils with fine sandy loam topsoil and gravels over alluvial gravels. Considerable stone is evident in the topsoil profile. Upper terraces contain friable silt loams over blocky silt loams on gravels. Sustainably accredited by NZ Winegrowers. |
